Warong Tokyah: JB Cafe With Desserts From $0.30

What’s unique about the cafe is that they operate in a buffet-style fashion, where all the items are displayed nicely, and customers just have to get a plate and pick what they want! What’s more, the items are affordably priced, with some as low as $0.30.

In case you didn’t know, they recently went viral on TikTok for their large selection of sweet treats and breakfast items, along with their long queues that extend out of the cafe even on weekdays. Their traditional kueh sells like hotcakes, and prices start from just RM1 (~S$0.29).

You can also find lesser-seen kueh selection here such as tepung gomak, which has a mochi-like consistency and is filled with sweet gula melaka and coconut, and kaswi gedik santan, which is a pandan-infused dessert reminiscent of a jelly. Aside from these traditional treats, they serve up Malay breakfast items with the likes of nasi lemak bungkus, satay, bergedil and more.

For the cafe girlies, Warung Tokyah also has many pretty desserts and cakes in both traditional and trendy flavours: pandan gula melaka, lemon poppyseed, red velvet, carrot cake and many more. Other than the items on display, they also have a menu of made-to-order items that are served piping hot.

This menu includes their specialty dishes such as the Nasi Tokyah (RM10/~S$2.88), which is essentially rice with chicken curry, and Kopi Tokyah (RM2/~S$0.58). Their iced drinks such as their kopi and teh, are also served traditionally: the kopi is stored in a plastic bag, then placed inside an enamel mug.

Warong Tokyah attracts quite a large crowd, so we recommend reserving a table in advance if you want to dine in. Else, just daobao your food since the parking space is pretty limited as well.
