A Michelin star shines in the heart of Como's historic center: Giacomo Devoto at Méditerranée. Here's the first big night

A new star has arrived at the Méditerranée restaurant in Como, and he won't just be a one-night stand. Matteo Gaffuri and his company Duomo Srl have signed an extraordinary collaboration agreement with Michelin-starred chef Giacomo Devoto, who will oversee the restaurant in Piazza Volta and bring his culinary vision to the heart of Como.

A true debut, scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, which therefore represents the beginning of a new chapter for the restaurant and for the gastronomic project which, following the experience with Terry Giacomello and the success of the Starry Nights, continues on the path of promoting the Mediterranean through direct interaction with great protagonists of Italian cuisine.

And this first evening will have a very special character, with an eight-course tasting menu that will lead guests into the chef's gastronomic universe with proposals selected from those that contributed to his Locanda de Banchieri earning a Michelin star.

A cuisine that speaks of landscape, seasons, memory, and raw materials, which in 2024 was awarded the Michelin Guide's recognition for the strong identity that is the hallmark of Devoto's work. After a long apprenticeship in the kitchens of Locanda dell'Angelo, under the guidance of Angelo Paracucchi, Devoto forged his own path, first in Champoluc, in the Aosta Valley, at his Baita Belvedere, and then in the hills of Fosdinovo, in Lunigiana, where in a 17th-century farmhouse he created Locanda de Banchieri, a contemporary hospitality project that includes a large agricultural estate with ten thousand hectares of olive groves dedicated to the production of an extraordinary oil.

Wild herbs, garden vegetables, forest aromas, and Ligurian seafood thus become the ingredients of a border cuisine, capable of blending the diverse souls of that land without confusing them. A seasonal, personal, and distinctive cuisine, in which every ingredient seems to have a connection to the surrounding landscape. Starting in September, this cuisine will arrive at the Méditerranée restaurant with a special touch: Devoto will not only be in the kitchen, but also in the dining room, among the tables, to meet guests, engage with them, and personally share his cuisine, explaining the choices, ingredients, and stories behind each dish. A rare opportunity to experience the philosophy of a Michelin-starred chef through direct, informal, and authentic contact.

The Méditerranée thus confirms its position as a space where cuisine becomes a meeting place. A vocation that Matteo Gaffuri and Duomo Srl have transformed into a true gastronomic project, capable of bringing diverse chefs, ideas, and approaches to the heart of Como, creating ever-new opportunities for a curious, knowledgeable, and passionate audience.
