A Barossa winery is throwing the ultimate Father’s Day festival with live music, ponies and pizza
If the usual Father’s Day routine of socks, BBQ tongs and a family lunch feels a little predictable, an iconic Barossa winery is offering something considerably more memorable this year, with an afternoon of wine, pizza, ponies and relaxed horse-riding adventures.

On Sunday, September 6th, Jacob’s Creek will host a free Father’s Day Festival, inviting families to kick back for a relaxed afternoon designed for all ages.
While there will be plenty of good food and wine to keep Dad happy, the real drawcard is something you don’t get to do every day. For this Father’s Day only, afternoon horse-riding experiences will be available, giving families the chance to explore the vineyard on horseback without the usual online pre-booking.
“Put Dad in the saddle this Father’s Day,” said Shane from the Jacob’s Creek team. “We’re ‘horsing around’ and dialling up the fun at Jacob’s Creek with limited walk-in horse-riding experiences available in the afternoon.”
The horse-riding experiences are usually only available by pre-booking online, making the special Father’s Day offering a particularly fun addition to the day. Spots are limited, so guests interested in riding are encouraged to enquire at the Welcome Desk when they arrive.
Back on the lawns, the afternoon will unfold at a leisurely pace, with Bambino Food Truck serving up delicious wood-fired pizzas while local musician Jack Crawford provides the live acoustic soundtrack.
There’ll be plenty to keep the younger members of the family entertained too, including lawn games, a dedicated soft-play area and tennis. Plus, the adorable ponies, Noodles and Romeo, will be making an appearance for pats, cuddles and photos.
Of course, no Barossa afternoon would be complete without a glass in hand, with Jacob’s Creek wines and beer available to enjoy as families settle in beneath the vines.
The setting itself is part of the appeal. With expansive lawns and plenty of space to spread out, Jacob’s Creek offers the kind of relaxed escape where Dad can actually switch off for a few hours, and the kids can run around and have fun.
The winery also brings more than 175 years of Barossa history to the occasion. It all began in 1847, when Johann Gramp planted his first vineyard along the banks of Jacob’s Creek, laying the foundations for what would become one of Australia’s most recognised wine names.
More than a century and a half later, the Barossa institution is still inviting visitors to experience the region through its wine, food, landscape and hospitality.
