June Festival – Flavors and Celebrations: Dianna Bakery, RaizNutéla, Brejo Bar, Enchendo Linguiça and Al Farabi

The spirit of São João has arrived in bars, restaurants, and bakeries across Rio, with typical recipes, artisanal drinks, peanut brittle, broths, baião de dois (a traditional rice and beans dish), and parties with live music.

Dianna Bakery

Led by award-winning pastry chef Dianna Macedo, Dianna Bakery gets into the São João spirit with the irresistible Peanut Butter Brownie Cup (R$ 16), made with brownie batter with peanut butter and a crunchy peanut topping.

RaizNutéla

With a menu designed by chef Bruno Magalhães, RaizNutéla offers great options for the Festa Junina (June Festival). These include the Hot Dog with Sautéed Pork Loin Sausage (R$28.90 | R$34.80 – with cheese) and smoothies, such as the Creamy Passion Fruit smoothie (R$12.90), made with cachaça, passion fruit pulp, cream, condensed milk, and vanilla, and the Peanut Butter smoothie (R$12.90), made with vodka, peanut butter, cream, condensed milk, and vanilla. For dessert, there's the Iced Coconut Cake (R$25.90) ​​with warm dulce de leche sauce.

Brejo Bar

Brejo Bar, in Flamengo, offers delicious batidas (Brazilian cocktails), classics found at June festival stalls. Among the recipes – all named in homage to women of Brazilian culture – are the Bruna (R$21), with 7 Engenhos white cachaça, paçoquinha (peanut candy), and coconut milk; the Nanda (R$21), which features 7 Engenhos white cachaça, ginger, banana, coconut milk, and brown sugar; and the Gadu (R$21), made with vodka, passion fruit, sugar, and coconut milk. To sweeten the palate, the bar offers a dessert that cannot be missing from the season's festivities: Fogo & Paixão (R$32), a traditional milk pudding with ginger syrup and dedo de moça pepper.

"Fan Festival" by Enchendo Linguiça

Enchendo Linguiça, a traditional bar in Grajaú, has managed to bring together several Carioca passions of the season to offer a complete experience for its patrons. The bar has just launched its special Arraiá da Torcida menu, with typical June festival delicacies, to please World Cup fans who come to watch the games there – or who simply drop by at any time to savor the new offerings with the taste of a party stall.

Among the delights on the special menu are the Angu de Ragu de Joelho de Porco (R$ 42), a creamy polenta with shredded pork knuckle and kale; the Linguiça Nordestina (R$77), a portion of pork sausage with coalho cheese, boiled cassava and clarified butter; the Mini-Cachorro Quente de Linguiça (R$ 38), a portion with three sausage buns accompanied by tomato sauce, corn and potato sticks; the portion of Pastel de Queijo Coalho com Melaço (3 pastéis R$ 45); as well as warm soups and broths to warm the soul, such as the Caldo de Canjiquinha com Costela Salgada e Linguiça (R$ 33); the Caldo de Mocotó (R$ 33); the Jabá com Jerimum (R$ 33), a pumpkin cream with or without dried meat (R$ 33); and the Caldo Verde (R$ 33).

The June festival menu also features Baião do Enchendo (R$48 – serves 1), a baião de dois (a traditional Brazilian dish) with sausage, served with dried meat paçoca (a type of peanut candy) and milk-based pirão (a type of porridge) with cheese. For dessert, there's Paçoca Pavé topped with Chocolate Ganache (R$28), Pumpkin and Coconut Sweet with a slice of Minas Cheese (R$18), and Cheese and Crunchy Crumble Ice Cream with Hot Guava Sauce (R$25). And, of course, there are the house's artisanal Batidas (a type of Brazilian cocktail), made with cachaça (a Brazilian spirit), in paçoca (R$12), coconut (R$12), and passion fruit (R$12) flavors. The Arraiá do Torcida menu is available until July 30th.

And it doesn't stop there. In addition to welcoming enthusiastic fans with a special menu, the bar also offers a complimentary last drink on days when Brazil plays and will host samba sessions on some days of the month to enhance the party atmosphere. On June 27th, Priscila Gouvêa will be in charge of the music (updated schedule available at @enchendolinguiça), belting out classic hits that will get everyone dancing.

Al Farabi

The festive atmosphere of a traditional Brazilian June festival will take over downtown Rio next Sunday, June 28th. Al Farabi is hosting a free June festival starting at 2 PM, featuring live music with Trio Forró Informal, typical foods, and activities for children. Located on Rua do Mercado, between Praça XV and Boulevard Olímpico, the traditional bar and bookstore has prepared a special menu with seasonal classics, such as caldo verde (R$ 20), canjiquinha with pork ribs (R$ 20), sweet canjica with roasted peanuts (R$ 16), curau (R$ 14), baião de dois (R$ 55), sausage (R$ 20), queijo coalho (R$ 20), and green corn (R$ 20), reinforcing its reputation as a Carioca meeting point to celebrate culture, gastronomy, and gatherings.
