Discover Casa Vazqueño: a new way to experience wine

In Valle de Olivos, Chihuahua, a new facet of Mexican winemaking is revealed.

The story of Casa Vazqueño dates back to 1970, when the family began cultivating the land with crops such as corn and beans, as well as raising livestock for local communities. Three generations later, they have expanded their operations, adding walnut orchards, olive groves, and their first vineyards.

The basis of their transformation rests on three important pillars: the territory that defines each harvest, the united family, and the vision of a sustainable legacy.

Let's talk about their wines:

The 23-hectare vineyard is located 1,600 meters above sea level, in a semi-arid environment that offers ideal conditions for cultivating 11 grape varieties. Here, the temperature contrast, along with the mineral-rich soils, allows for the slow ripening of the grapes, thus preserving their freshness and natural acidity.

It is worth noting that none of their wines go through barrels, so the notes that are appreciated do not come from wooden barrels, but from the earth itself.

Among its labels, the following stand out:

  • Origin: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Shiraz (25%), and Malbec (25%), this wine boasts a deep cherry-red color and a nose of stewed strawberry, pomegranate, blackberry, and blueberry. Its balance earned it the Gran Oro award at the Mexico Selection by CMB.
  • Estirpe: a Cabernet Sauvignon with an aromatic profile of plum, fig, and peach jam, as well as lilac and bougainvillea. It's perfect for pairing with red meat, pepper dishes, and semi-cured cheeses.
  • Sombra: a Shiraz characterized by its aromas of black fruits, clove, lavender, cinnamon and dark chocolate.

Elvira Restaurant and the hospitality at Casa Vazqueño:

The vision of this project is also to develop the region as a wine tourism destination that prioritizes a comprehensive experience of gastronomy, relaxation and contact with the countryside.

Elvira Restaurant invites you to discover local cuisine that uses products from its own land. In addition to its vineyards, they also raise Angus and Wagyu crossbred cattle, resulting in dishes with traceability and a strong sense of identity.

To complete the experience, their boutique suites are perfect for unwinding. Their rooms are designed with windows that open onto the vineyards, walnut groves, and olive groves, and feature a terrace and private jacuzzi. A stay here is complemented by workshops such as the blending workshop, where you can experiment with different varietals and understand how to make wine from scratch, or the outdoor painting workshop, which includes a walk through the vineyard.

Casa Vazqueño represents the agricultural rebirth of southern Chihuahua and is proof of authenticity and respect for the land, whether uncorking a bottle or contemplating the sunsets of the Valley.
