Rohit Ghai will bring Yatra to Saudi Arabia for the first time, anchoring the dining program of the kingdom's most ambitious heritage restoration project when The Oberoi Sukoon Villas opens in Diriyah's Wadi Safar later this year.
The signing is done before the doors exist. Ghai will bring Yatra to Wadi Safar, inside The Oberoi Sukoon Villas, with an opening set for late 2026 - his first restaurant in Saudi Arabia, confirmed while the surrounding site is still being rebuilt stone by stone. The address was not incidental.
Rohit Ghai runs his kitchens from London, where Indian fine dining has spent a decade building a critical vocabulary of its own, and where his name is now read as a settled part of that vocabulary. Wadi Safar is not buying a menu; it is buying the years it took to earn that reading, transplanted whole and in advance of a single cover being served. The reputation arrives pre-loaded.
A restaurant built inside a restoration project does not sit on settled ground; it sits on rock that is still being cut, graded and set, on a schedule that answers to the masterplan rather than to the kitchen. The Oberoi's villas, the wider Wadi Safar development, and the pace of Diriyah's own rebuilding each move on their own timetable, and Yatra's opening date is now anchored to wherever those plates happen to be sitting in late 2026. Ghai did not set that schedule.
