You can make this recipe with all kinds of mulled wine aka in German called Gluhwein.

You can use bought mulled wine or make one of my favorite recipes that you can find on this blog:

White Cinnamon Glühwein

For the alcohol-free version, simply replace the wine with red grape or cherry juice and omit the rum completely.

Fruit

For a red mulled wine version you best use berries or a berry blend, cherries or plums. You can use frozen or fresh fruit.

For a white mulled wine version pears, apples or citrus fruit are an amazing ingredient for this delicious dessert.

Spices

Winter spices like cinnamon and cloves give this dessert a wonderful flavor that tastes like Christmas
