Method · 55 min
  1. Mix the yogurt and baking powder in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Mix the melted butter with the egg yolks. Add in the yogurt and stir to combine.
  3. Add in the flour and mix using a spatula and then your hands to bring the dough together. Make sure not to over knead the dough.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for one hour.
  5. Grind the walnuts in a blender or food processor. Mix them with powdered sugar, rosewater and ground cardamom.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Flour the counter top well and roll out the dough at about 1/8 inch thickness.
  8. Using a 2-inch round cookie cutter (or the rim of a glass) cut out circles and set them aside. Bring the scraps together and repeat this step until you've cut out all the dough.
  9. Place 1/2 to 1 teaspoon walnut filling in the center of each dough piece. Fold the dough in half and pinch and seal the edges by rolling and folding the edges little by little.

  11. Take the pastries out of the oven and roll them in powdered sugar.
