Red Velvet Waffles w/ Cream Cheese

Whatever you call it, these soft and fluffy red velvet waffles are a delightful treat. Topped with a light and creamy layer of whipped cream cheese and fresh, juicy blueberries, they offer the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess.

Tip: Add a dollop of this homemade date-based Nutella for richer, more decadent waffles. Enjoy!

For the waffles:

  • 200 g flour
  • 10 g baking powder
  • 100 g sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa
  • 200 ml cooking cream or whipping cream/yogurt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence
  • red food coloring, as needed (about 1–2 tbsp liquid or 2–3 tsp gel/powder)

Optional:

  • fruit or powdered sugar for decorating

Instructions

  • Mix all the waffle batter ingredients in a large bowl until smooth and lump-free.
  • Pour 2–3 tablespoons of batter (or enough to lightly cover the grid), depending on the size of your waffle maker. Make sure it is hot enough.
  • Bake until the waffles are firm but fluffy. Repeat until you run out of batter.
  • In a second bowl, mix the cream cheese with the powdered sugar until smooth, light, and creamy.
  • Spread each waffle with cream, add plenty of blueberries and repeat to stack as many waffles as you like, creating a small red velvet waffle “cake.
  • Decorate with extra fruit and powdered sugar.
