Rainbow Rice House: Hidden Gem Zi Char Eatery With Legit Hokkien Mee

You’ll find that it’s just a three-minute walk away from Clarke Quay MRT Station, making it rather easy to access. There’s a seriously wide variety of dishes to choose from here.

But one dish we can’t stop hearing about is their Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle ($6.50). Said to be packed with wok hei and drenched in a rich crustacean stock, this is a solid rendition of a favourite dish among Singaporeans.

Other main dishes you can get here include the Moonlight Hor Fun ($6.50) and Petai Roasted Pork Fried Rice ($5.50). Don’t miss out on the zi char staple, the Prawn Paste Chicken ($13) AKA har cheong gai.

This rendition is said to deliver perfectly crispy skin and juicy, aromatic meat that bursts with the signature umami of prawn paste. Many have also praised the Ngoh Hiang (price TBD) for its wonderfully crispy beancurd skin and meaty, savoury filling. Remember to dip it in the soy sauce for some extra sweetness!

There are also a few excellent Peranakan dishes to try here, including the Ayam Buah Keluak ($23) and Beef Rendang ($35). There’s a whole lot more to check out here, so do consider Rainbow Rice House for your next zi char feast!
