Shanghai-Viral Frozen Dirty Coffee Lands In Bugis, With Milo And Strawberry Flavours

Foodies would have heard of Basq & Bean, a new cafe in Bugis that went viral for frozen dirty coffee. ICYMI, this drink originates from Shanghai, taking the Internet by storm for its -86°C dirty coffee. At Basq & Bean, you can enjoy the -96°C Dirty Series, featuring a range of specialty coffees flash-frozen with liquid nitrogen!

Their -96°C Dirty drinks come in three different flavours: Dirty Dinosaur ($9), Dirty Str*wberry ($9.80), and their original Dirty Coffee ($9). Get your cameras ready, as each cup gets blasted with liquid nitrogen and is frozen to a bone-chilling -96°C on the spot.

The freezing process is needed to achieve a satisfying mouthfeel that begins warm but ends cool. There aren’t any ice cubes, which means your coffee stays cool and intense till the last sip.

On our visit, we tried the Dirty Str*wberry, a refreshing drink that blends house–made strawberry puree with sweetened milk and a robust shot of ristretto. If you’re a fan of chocolate, we recommend the Dirty Dinosaur, a concoction of toasty roast ristretto with Milo, before it’s finished with a generous dusting of the malty chocolate powder.

Go for the original Dirty Coffee if you prefer something simpler. The Dirty Coffee was nice and smooth, and had just the right amount of sweetness from the creamy Thai milk.

While you’re here, don’t miss out on their artisanal Basque cheesecakes. They’ve got several flavours on the menu, including the Tiramisu Basq Cheesecake ($18 for 3.5 inches/$45 for 6 inches), a Christmas special only available till 5 January 2026.

We enjoyed each bite of the cake, starring a creamy cheesecake base, topped with layers of light Galbani mascarpone cream, tender ladyfingers, and chocolate and coffee powder. Basq & Bean is located along Beach Road, a quick six-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station and an eight-minute walk from Esplanade MRT Station.
