Stop food waste

Stop food waste

How many times do we give in to temptation at that market stall and buy more fruit and vegetables than we need? Or, do we have to leave and the fridge is full at home?

I'll take your breath away

The need to preserve food better and longer inspired B!POD, a new brand created with the goal of improving human existence and quality of life by celebrating biodiversity and strengthening the connection between humanity and nature. The first product launched is called DRO!D and is a device that creates a vacuum seal inside rigid containers, which can preserve raw and cooked foods, vegetables, meat, fish, and even liquids: thanks to this environmentally friendly and low-energy technology, food can be preserved up to five times longer.

A precious ally

Vacuum packing is a food preservation technique that stops the oxidation process in foods, thus preserving their nutritional and organoleptic properties, without altering their odors, colors, or texture. Vacuum packing helps prevent household waste, ensuring food safety and hygiene by preventing the growth of mold and bacteria. It also protects the refrigerator from unpleasant odors and allows for perfectly frozen foods. But it's not just a valuable ally for preservation: vacuum packing is also excellent for certain culinary preparations, such as marinating foods, because the absence of oxygen allows the seasoning to penetrate the tissues more easily and quickly. Furthermore, the increased pressure prevents water from escaping from the food, thus preventing dehydration and the loss of volatile compounds responsible for flavor.

Friendly technology

DRO!D is intuitive and simple to operate: the vacuum process is managed by a single central button and a graphical interface visible on the OLED display. There are two vacuum intensity modes; in just 30 seconds, DRO!D can reach a vacuum of 50 mbar, thus eliminating 950 mbar, corresponding to 95% less oxygen molecules inside the largest container.

To facilitate the recycling chain, DRO!D was designed with interlocking blocks, a Japanese-inspired assembly method that eliminates screws and glue and reduces the amount of materials used.

The device pairs with a set of three rigid containers of different sizes, designed to fold inside each other like a Russian doll when not in use. Their height allows them to be stacked at least in pairs inside the refrigerator. They are dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and freezer-safe, and can be used at temperatures from -30°C to +97°C. The use of rigid, multipurpose containers eliminates the need for vacuum bags and saves more than 300 non-recyclable plastic bags per person, corresponding to a per capita contribution of 30 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere.

Pleased to meet you!

B!POD's e-commerce site will launch on April 21st, and on the same day, DRO!D will be present at Eataly Milan, with a cooking stand where chef Carlotta Perego @cucinabotanica will prepare finger food using expiring fruits and vegetables directly from Eataly's shelves: a fun and educational way to focus on food waste and planet conservation.
