Where to eat in Barcelona for La Mercè 2026: the best gastronomic plans for these festivities

Where to eat in Barcelona for La Mercè 2026: the best gastronomic plans for these festivities

The La Mercè 2025 festivities return to Barcelona between September 23 and 27 with their usual program full of concerts, performing arts shows, family activities and popular culture events.

In a year in which the city has two exceptional town criers, linked to the wine and gastronomy universe, such as Antoni and Meritxell Falgueras, from Celler de Gelida, gastronomy could not be missing either, which will have a prominent role thanks to the Terra i Gust festival, integrated into the official program.

This isn't the only culinary offering linked to the town's main festival, as restaurants and pastry chefs join in the festivities with special creations. We highlight some of them below.

Terra i Gust

As is now tradition, Terra i Gust will bring together local cuisine in the Parc de la Ciutadella, while also highlighting the city's small businesses. In its sixth edition, 14 restaurants will participate, offering 28 dishes made with organic, local, and seasonal products, all for 5 euros.

Among them are Bar El Pepino, Bar Súper, Bistrot Levante, and Casa Xica, among many others. Half of the offerings will be vegetarian. To accompany the food, there will be craft beers, natural wines, kombucha, and specialty coffee. There will be a small space for local producers, as well as an always interesting program of cooking demonstrations, workshops, and talks in the Cooking Classroom. // Terra i Gust. September 25-27. Price: Free admission.

El pastel de La Mercè de Jon Cake

The cheesecake master, Jon Cake, also joins the party with a special creation that showcases other pastry skills: he combines a croissant dough base with almond frangipane, honey cream, almond praline and figs, the ingredients of the La Mercè cake.

The creation will be available in Jon Cake stores and can also be ordered. The celebration continues in their bakery with La Quesera, the special September cheesecake, made with Kuadrat, a Catalan cheese with a bloomy rind reminiscent of Camembert. Now there's no excuse not to indulge in something sweet. // Jon Cake. Mercè Cake available from September 24th to 16th. Price: €5.50.

La Mercè menu in Fismuler

Everything they do at Fismuler deserves our attention. For these days, they've revived the spirit of traditional Catalan breakfasts and created a mouthwatering menu: perfectly seasoned fuet tartare, a carpaccio of braised pig's trotters, an incredible rabbit rillette, and their famous, juicy house tortilla, this time topped with capipota (a Catalan pig's head and pig's trotters).

To finish: cod cooked in a tin with Santa Pau beans and a Swiss roll with burnt Catalan cream—it resembles a French toast, but it isn't—accompanied by carquinyolis (almond biscuits). Hearty dishes, designed for sharing, and prepared with the skill and quality ingredients that always characterize the restaurants of the La Ancha family group. // La Mercè Menu at Fismuler. Until October 4. Price: 55 euros/person (drinks not included).

Lluc Crusellas x Leña Barcelona

Lluc Crusellas, named the world's best chocolatier in 2022, shows no signs of slowing down. Just days after presenting chocolates inspired by Gaudí's work, he has now teamed up with Leña Barcelona, chef Dani Garcia's restaurant, to create a very special dessert with a crunchy base of cacao nibs, hazelnut praline, and hints of coffee, topped with a creamy 80% Indonesian dark chocolate and a cacao sponge.

The creation, called Indonesian Origin Chocolate by Lluc Crusellas, perfectly complements the smoky character of the restaurant, located in the Grand Hyatt Barcelona Hotel. The dessert will only be available for four days and will be a limited edition of 150 units. // Lluc Crusellas x Leña Barcelona. September 24-27. Price: please inquire.

Taste Nou Barris

Coinciding with La Mercè, the Tasta Nou Barris festival will debut in the courtyard of the Nou Barris District headquarters. Visitors can sample tapas and small plates from five restaurants: Cinco Hermanos, 23 Gastrobar, Casa Angelita, La Esquinica, and L'Hostalet. Its aim: to celebrate the diversity and quality of the district's cuisine.

The experience will be complemented by a selection of Catalan wines and DJ sets throughout the day. Tasta Nou Barris also aims to become the starting point for a new gastronomic association in the district, designed to connect professionals and boost local businesses. // Tasta Nou Barris. September 26, from 12 pm to midnight. Price: Free admission.

San Miguel Biergarten in the Poble Espanyol

It's another classic gastronomic event at this time of year, coinciding with La Mercè, and it offers the chance to taste 25 varieties of beer—including non-alcoholic and gluten-free options—along with some classic German dishes: frankfurters, bratwurst, cervela, pork knuckle, kartoffel salad, currywurst, pretzels...

The program also includes tastings and workshops to discover different beer styles and traditions, competitions, and DJ sets. This year, children will also have their own space with games and creative activities. // San Miguel Biergarten. September 23-27. Price: Free entry for residents of Catalonia, limited capacity, and access with advance tickets.

La Mercè cake at Hofmann

Hofmann, and many other artisan bakeries in the city, are once again tempting us with the La Mercè cake, an original creation by pastry chef Antonio Bachour, featuring figs and almonds as its star ingredients. It's a recipe that champions seasonal produce.

In this case, Hofmann's personal touch comes from a smooth almond cream, yogurt, and rose tea. Available individually and in a version for four people, which can be ordered to share. A sweet way to celebrate the town's main festival. // Pastisseria Hofmann. Available until September 24. Price: €11 (individual) and €40 (for four people).

El panot brioche de Suca'l

Few things are as quintessentially Barcelonan as the panot de la flor (flower tile). That's why pastry chef Ton Cortés, the driving force behind Suca'l, has decided to transform it into a sweet treat. It's a brioche inspired by the iconic tile, made with a gold leaf dough, very similar to that of his award-winning panettone.

The recipe starts with a sourdough starter that has been preserved since 2011, named Eulàlia in honor of the city's patron saint, and combines flour, butter, natural vanilla, lemon, egg yolk, and sugar. Although the story of this sweet treat dates back to 2015, when Cortés was commissioned to create a piece to represent Barcelona at the International Book Fair in Mexico. Now, for La Mercè festival, this treat returns to bakeries. // Suca'l. Price: please inquire.

Piromusical from METT Barcelona

We've already told you about METT Barcelona and the terrace of its 1925 Vermutería, located in the historic building of the former Gran Hotel La Florida, on Tibidabo. From there, away from the crowds, you can enjoy the traditional pyromusical display—which this year moves to Platja de la Nova Icària—with unexpected views.

All accompanied by a casual dinner menu featuring the ever-present gildas, Iberian ham, and patatas bravas; topped off with a black truffle bikini sandwich and a steak sandwich. To drink: the Foc de Mercè cocktail, created especially for the occasion. There will be music with a DJ. // METT Barcelona. September 27. Price: 50 euros.
