Mill sits together at the table

The concept of Spakelijk Eten is as simple as it is surprising: participants get on their bikes as a duo and visit three different addresses in Mill during the evening. At each address, a different course of a three-course dinner awaits, prepared by enthusiastic home cooks. Between courses, participants meet new fellow villagers, ensuring that not only culinary enjoyment but also connection takes center stage.

The evening begins together at De Directeur in Mill. There, all participants receive three sealed envelopes containing the addresses for the starter, main course, and dessert. Only during the evening, after each course, does it become clear where the next culinary surprise awaits.

Spakelijk Eten offers participants the choice to join as a diner or as a cook. The cooks host 6 fellow villagers per course, with it being a surprise in each round who sits down with whom. Diners pay €30 per person for a complete three-course dinner including wine, spread across three locations.

Those who prefer to do the cooking themselves can sign up as a cook and prepare a three-course meal for a group of guests from the village. The cooks receive compensation for purchasing the ingredients. The first edition in October 2025 and the second edition in May 2026 were enthusiastically received. The combination of delicious food, surprising encounters, and a relaxed atmosphere proved to be a resounding success.

With the third edition, the organization hopes to once again bring many residents together at the table, or rather: at various tables throughout Mill. Afterwards, diners and cooks will come together again for a convivial closing drink, where experiences, recipes, and wonderful stories can be exchanged.
