The first runner-up was Sergio Díaz from the Kontrapunto restaurant and the second runner-up was Mariana Roponica from Casa Loren.
The fourth edition of the Extremadura Potato Omelette Championship has a winner. It's Daniel García from the Hotel Cortijo Santa Cruz restaurant, who made a potato omelette with onions, cooked on the outside but tender on the inside.
The winner receives a cash prize of 500 euros, as well as a badge recognizing their achievement. They will also represent the region in the upcoming national championship. The prize was presented to them by Mayor Ana Belén Fernández.
On the other hand, Sergio Díaz from the Kontrapunto restaurant managed to be the first finalist while Mariana Roponica from Casa Loren managed to be the second finalist in this fourth edition.
A championship that has featured the participation of chefs Jorge Fernández from Taberna Sevebrau, Daniel García from Hotel Cortijo Santa Cruz, Mariana Roponica from Casa Loren and last year's winner, Sergio Díaz from Kontrapunto, Sara Benítez from the Agalals&fodd restaurant in Mérida, Ana María Trinidad from the pensioner's restaurant in La Zarza, Luisa Corcobado from the Esther sandwich bar in Valdehornillos; as well as Raúl Gómez from the Avío restaurant in Campanario and Yolanda Sánchez from the Los Barros tavern.
All participants had 45 minutes to prepare a Spanish omelet, and then had to plate their creations for the jury to taste and choose the best. The jury, composed of representatives from the hospitality, gastronomy, restaurant, and communications industries, was chaired by Matías Macías, and included Alba Martín, Natividad Gallego, Josemi Martínez, and Estrella Domeque.
Finally, those attending the championship had the opportunity to sample tortilla pinchos in the Plaza de España.
