The winemaker from Bodega La Celia is the fourth Argentine representative nominated in the history of the Wine Star Awards and the first woman from the country to reach this category.

Andrea Ferreyra, winemaker at Bodega La Celia, was nominated for Winemaker of the Year 2026 by the prestigious American magazine Wine Enthusiast, in the context of the 27th edition of the Wine Star Awards.

This distinction once again places Argentine winemaking among the leading figures in one of the most prestigious international awards in the wine industry. Ferreyra is the fourth Argentine to be included in this category and the first woman from the country to do so.

The Wine Star Awards were created in 2000 by Wine Enthusiast to recognize individuals and companies making outstanding contributions to the global wine and spirits industry. Each year, the publication selects five finalists per category and then announces the winners.

A recognition for La Celia and the Uco Valley

Ferreyra carries out his work at Bodega La Celia, an establishment with more than 125 years of history located in the Uco Valley, Mendoza.

Ferreyra is the fourth Argentinian nominated in this category of the Wine Star Awards and the first woman from the country to achieve this distinction.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this nomination as Winemaker of the Year from Wine Enthusiast. More than a personal recognition, I feel it is a great milestone for La Celia; it reflects the daily effort of our entire team and validates the path we have been forging with our wines in the South of the Uco Valley,” the winemaker noted.

The nomination adds to a list of Argentine representatives who have reached this category in different editions of the Wine Star Awards. Jorge Riccitelli, of Bodega Norton, received the recognition in 2012; Juan Pablo Murgia, of Otronia, was nominated in 2023; and Alejandro Vigil was nominated in 2025.

Ferreyra's presence also marks a new chapter for Argentine women's participation in this international recognition.

The nomination recognizes the work of the winemaker at Bodega La Celia, located in the Uco Valley of Mendoza.

The perspective of an Argentine winemaker on the international scene

For Ferreyra, the nomination also represents an opportunity to project the identity of Argentine wines and those from the Uco Valley to major international markets.

“For our wine industry, this represents an enormous opportunity for global visibility. Each international nomination helps validate quality. It is a recognition not only of a particular project, but also of the prestige of emblematic terroirs like the Uco Valley and the consistency of our industry in the face of the world's most demanding markets. It demonstrates that Argentina remains firmly positioned among the elite of wine,” he stated.

The winners of the Wine Star Awards 2026 will be announced in the special “Best of the Year” edition of Wine Enthusiast and will be honored during the label gala scheduled for January 2027.

For Bodega La Celia, the nomination represents recognition of the work developed from the Uco Valley and the path of innovation and pursuit of quality carried out by its winemaking team.
