Eight years after his passing: We remember when chef Anthony Bourdain visited Chile and tried the completo

This Monday, June 8th, marks exactly 8 years since the passing of renowned chef Anthony Bourdain.

The man who was an icon in culinary programs and a presenter of programs of the same nature, has become a cultural reference point for his free spirit and way of seeing life beyond the kitchen.

On Radio Imagina, we remember that time he passed through our country and tried the symbol of Chilean fast food: The completo.

The day Anthony Bourdain tried the completo in Chile

In the context of filming his show "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations", the chef visited our country in 2009, where his visit left no one indifferent.

The reason for his visit was to learn about and try Chilean cuisine, in which he tasted everything from pork legs, blood sausages, pork loin, and even the completo (Chilean-style hot dog).

According to Biobío, on one occasion a guide took him to Viña del Mar, specifically to a place called "Sibarítico".

The place, known for the large size of its dishes, welcomed the American chef and presenter, who was impressed by the size of the hot dog.

On that occasion, the presenter also joked about it, even pointing out that the bread of the hot dog looked like "a limp clown's shoe".

Although he had his critics and had words about how it could be prepared better, the chef acknowledged that the dish was "incredible, but embarrassingly delicious".

In what was the chef's only visit to our country during his lifetime, he also stopped by Fuente Alemana and the El Hoyo restaurant, where Bourdain delighted in the Chilean palate.

In this way, Chile was one more of the destinations of the outstanding chef, who passed away on June 8, 2018, in a hotel in France and left a legacy in gastronomic culture at an international level.
