Bali Campur Cafe

A Warm Corner of Indonesia in Tokyo.

In a corner near the kitchen, celery stalks grow from a cut-open milk carton. The cook steps out to snip a few fresh leaves. Paper napkins and oshibori sit inside a Bintang beer cozy. Bottles of Teh Botol line a table along the wall.

Above, bright canvases of waterfalls, Balinese dancers and a blue-eyed cat hang against pale yellow plaster. Bamboo wind chimes sound, their hollow notes carrying through the room. The welcome is warm and unforced. A creamy avocado smoothie, streaked with chocolate, arrives first.

At lunch, nasi campur, nasi goreng and mie goreng carry a balance of spice and sweetness. Before long, the space feels less like a restaurant than somewhere you’ve been invited.

Address: 2-20-15-2F Koenji Minami, Suginami-ku 3-minute walk from Shin-Koenji Station.
