Cirio is celebrating 170 years with free pizza, drinks and Italian Piazza vibes at Battersea Power Station

To celebrate 170 years since the brand was founded in 1856, iconic Italian tomato brand Cirio is taking over Battersea Power Station Square for a one-day-only Italian-inspired experience: The 170th Aperitivo. On Saturday, September 19, the square will transform into a lively Piazza from 11am–7pm, bringing a little taste of a long Italian summer to London.

Expect summer seating, olive trees and deckchairs overlooking the Thames, with pizza by the slice, drinks, music and games to get stuck into. Not to mention, some farmer vibes to pay homage to the Italian farmers behind the tasty Cirio tomatoes!

Taking centre stage will be an enormous Cirio tomato can, which doubles up as part of one of the activation’s suitably tomato-themed games. Put your skills to the test with Tomato Plinko, dropping tokens down a giant board for the chance to win Cirio merch, or take on The Giant Cirio Can Challenge, where you’ll need to toss the ball into different targets in the oversized can to rack up points and bag prizes.

Of course, no trip to an Italian Piazza would be complete without something delicious to eat. Visitors can tuck into complimentary freshly made pizza, crafted using Cirio tomatoes, before heading over to the Aperitivo Bar for a selection of refreshing Italian-inspired drinks.

And there’s plenty of reason to stick around once you’ve polished off your slice. A live DJ will be performing, bringing plenty of energy to the Piazza, while a vintage photo booth will let you snap a picture and take home a printed keepsake from your mini Italian escape. A beloved, farmer-owned Italian brand, Cirio is celebrating not just its history, but 170 years of being part of the moments that bring people together around food – from family lunches and Aperitivo with friends, to pizza nights and summer gatherings.
