A one-day-only curry festival will fill Brick Lane with flavour, live performances, a parade, and giant puppets this month

Last year, the Brick Lane Curry Festival made a much-anticipated return to London after a 9-year hiatus. Following the success of the 2025 event, the festival is returning once again this year – and it’s promising to be “bigger, better and spicier” than before.

The Brick Lane Curry Festival will return to (where else?) Brick Lane on September 20, 2026. The one-day celebration will fill the area with a glorious celebration of Bangladeshi and South Asian food and culture.

Brick Lane itself will be turned into a street festival, with participating restaurants popping up along the road with regional and speciality dishes. Alongside these street-side stalls will be chef demonstrations, cultural showcases, and festival-themed street art. As you may have already gleaned, there’s much more than just curry on offer at the festival, as the community comes together for its biggest curry festival yet.

The celebration will kick off at 12pm on the day, with a colourful parade that will trace its way from Buxton Street to the Brick Lane Arch.

Included in the procession will be themed floats, dancers, and community groups taking to the street. Keep an eye out for the “three giant bespoke puppets, specially created by acclaimed arts organisation Emergency Exit Arts for the Festival.”

Throughout the day, there will be plenty more to see in the form of roaming entertainers, as well as DJs and live performances. These will include “appearances from Bengali music stars Nish, Mumzy and Khiyo, alongside performances from IMD Legion, Bolly Flex, Taal Torongo, Showmi Das Dance Company, the Bollywood Brass Band and more.”

Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: “The Brick Lane Curry Festival made a fantastic return last year, bringing thousands of people together to celebrate the food, culture and community that make this part of Tower Hamlets so special.

This year we’re building on that success with an even bigger, better and spicier festival.“ 📍 Brick Lane 🚇 Nearest stations include Aldgate, Aldgate East, and Shoreditch High Street.
