La Petite Boulangerie: Cosy French Cafe With Merveilleux, Kaya Escargot Pastries And More Near Farrer Park MRT

We wouldn’t blame you if you’d walked past La Petite Boulangerie without even noticing.

This cosy French cafe is hidden within My Selection, a newly opened furniture store along Marne Road—a brief four-minute stroll from Farrer Park MRT Station. This is the homegrown furniture brand’s first-ever physical store. Here you can browse ornaments and artwork, quirky knick knacks and more for your home, while waiting for your pastries to be served.

Over at La Petite Boulangerie, you’ll find Merveilleux ($9), pronounced as “mair-vè-y-eu”. This traditional French and Belgian dessert comprises sweet, melt-in-the-mouth meringue layered with fluffy flavoured cream.

The cafe is the first in Singapore to permanently offer this unique pastry in a wide range of flavours, both classic and locally-inspired. A mainstay here is the Valrhona Chocolate, a crowd favourite featuring meringue, a luscious chocolate whipped cream, and Valrhona chocolate shavings.

Other popular picks are the Hazelnut Praline, topped with caramelised nuts, and the Tiramisu, a bittersweet flavour perfect for those who love coffee. There’s also Tropical Passionfruit, if you prefer something lighter with tangy notes.

This fruity dessert comes with passionfruit-spiked cream coated with coconut crumble and passionfruit bits. Each Merveilleux costs $9, but you can also get them mini-sized at $18.80 for a box of four, or $24.80 for a box of six.

Those who love buttery viennoiseries will be pleased with the lineup of freshly baked croissants and escargot-shaped danishes here. Get the Pandan Kaya Coconut Escargot ($5.50), laced with fragrant house-made kaya swirls. The Coconut Gula Melaka Escargot ($5.50), a sticky and buttery pastry with a caramelised sweetness, is another nod to Singaporean flavours.

According to owner Alexandre Kebabtchieff, the cafe will release a new range of savoury bakes in the near future. Stay tuned to their latest updates by following My Selection on IG.
