The Basque Country recognizes the work of Benjamín Lana and the Arguiñano brothers in the dissemination and promotion of Basque gastronomy

And although the names of the award winners will be announced next Monday, May 19, at the Euskadi Gastronomika Festa, the two special mentions that will be highlighted in this first edition have already been revealed. Within the 'Euskadi es Gastronomika' Recognition, Benjamín Lana, CEO of Vocento Gastronomía, will be recognized. A renowned food journalist with extensive experience in publishing projects, he currently heads Madrid Fusión and San Sebastián Gastronomika, a role he combines with organizing other important international congresses such as Worldcanic, Terrae, and Encuentro de los Mares, which recently earned him the Grand Prix from the International Academy of Gastronomy. On this occasion, Lana has been recognized for his work in promoting and positioning the Basque Country as a leading gastronomic destination.

The other special mention will be that of the brothers Karlos and Eva Arguiñano in the Euskadi Gastronomika Maitea Recognition, awarded to professionals who contribute to projecting a positive image of the Basque territory, its culture and its gastronomy; who passionately spread its values, and who have been organic prescribers due to their career or media relevance.

This is perfectly exemplified by chef Karlos Arguiñano, a television pioneer and one of Spain's most beloved personalities, who has brought Basque cuisine to millions of homes with a cheerful and approachable style, always maintaining a strong commitment to local produce. His sister Eva, for her part, is a renowned pastry chef who has forged her own path in the pastry industry, combining creativity and tradition with immense professionalism.

Both awards will be given directly by the organizing committee, highlighting outstanding careers that have significantly contributed to the prestige and projection of Basque gastronomy.
