Bajan, Citadelle Gin's limited edition dedicated to Barbados

Bajan, Citadelle Gin's limited edition dedicated to Barbados

Take a gin and make it Caribbean. The idea comes from Maison Ferrand, the renowned Cognac distillery, which also excels at blending gin and rum.

And then there's the mix of botanicals like hibiscus—known locally as sorrel—that adds both cultural value and aromatic complexity, enriching the gin's citrusy structure. Also noteworthy are the presence of bay leaves and lemongrass, ingredients used in local cuisine and traditional remedies. Harvested from nearby trees and gardens, they're incorporated into the Citadelle Bajan recipe to lend a fresh, herbaceous note, rounding out the spirit's aromatic profile.

The recipe was developed by Alexandre Gabriel, owner and master blender of Citadelle Gin, who has been distilling and blending high-quality spirits for over 30 years, introducing new techniques and helping shape the modern gin renaissance. "When we started producing gin, we did so with the goal of bringing a high-quality product to the market. Citadelle received significant recognition that gave us the confidence to continue experimenting. Among these was an interview in which Ferran Adrià himself defined the Gin and Tonic as a "gastronomic act," citing Citadelle as a positive example. Today, Citadelle has many faces, and this latest one is a tribute to Barbados, a place we know intimately and hold dear to our hearts. All in a bottle of Bajan."

And if the Gin Tonic, even with Citadelle Bajan, is a gastronomic act as well as a journey to the Caribbean, the new limited edition with the grapefruit heart also expresses itself well in a tropical Bajan Paloma, to ride the wave of pink cocktails.
