Countdown to the Cazuelica and DO Navarra Wine Week

Countdown to the Cazuelica and DO Navarra Wine Week

Everything is ready for a new edition of the Cazuelica and DO Navarra Wine Week, a gastronomic event whose objective is to recover the stews, the traditional recipe book and the flavors linked to the cuisine of this Community.

For ten days, from October 2nd to the 11th, a total of 50 establishments in 10 Navarrese towns —Pamplona, Alsasua, Ayegui, Berrioplano, Burlada, Egüés, Isaba, Tafalla, Villamayor de Monjardín and Viana— are participating in this 25th edition of the Cazuelica and Wine Week, offering their cazuelica proposal, accompanied by a recommended wine from the Navarra DO, thus pairing traditional cuisine with the wines of the territory.

Casserole and wine

The price of each small casserole, set by the establishments themselves, will range between 2.80 and 3.30 euros, not including drinks, with offerings that revive traditional stews, homemade preparations, and flavors that evoke family memories, such as Tuna Marmitako with seafood bisque, Pochas beans with monkfish, Baby squid with jowl, Navarrese suckling pig in red wine, Navarrese pork cheek, Lamb meatballs in chilindrón sauce, Iberian pork cheek with piquillo peppers and pickled onion, Oxtail and chickpeas, Chicken in pepitoria sauce, Malaysian tripe, Urban roe deer, Pig's trotters and tree ear, Shepherd's breadcrumbs with Iberian pork belly, Creamy rice with pork cheeks, Estafeta bull stew, Lentils and chorizo, Tripe with chickpeas from cousin Felix decorated with Iberian pork jowl and chili pepper, Bull stew Red wine stew, Basurde meatballs with cuttlefish, Ropa vieja accompanied by fried chickpeas…

Among the activities offered alongside the "cazuelicas y vino" (small casserole and wine) route, the following stand out:

  • As a prelude to the Week, on Thursday, October 1st, the Cooking Classroom of the Ensanche Market in Pamplona will host a historical showcooking that will allow you to explore different moments in the history of the competition through three award-winning casseroles.
  • On Wednesday, October 7th, a "cazuelicas" (small casserole) route will be organized with journalists and gastrobloggers through different participating establishments.
  • On Saturday, October 3rd, the 13th edition of Navarider Day will be held, an already established event that will bring together more than 700 motorcyclists from different parts of Spain who, as part of the experience, will have dinner based on cazuelicas (small casseroles).
  • On Thursday, October 8, the Hotel Pamplona Catedral will host a new edition of Musicata.

The 25th edition of the Cazuelica and DO Navarra Wine Week will be held from October 2nd to 11th. Fifty establishments in ten towns across Navarre will participate in this gastronomic event, offering traditional stews paired with local wines. Each cazuelica will cost between €2.80 and €3.30. The program also includes parallel activities such as a historical cooking demonstration on October 1st, a gastronomic tour for journalists on the 7th, and a dinner for over 700 motorcyclists at Navarider Day on October 3rd.
