Lonely Broccoli: Grilling above the rooftops of Schwabing
At Lonely Broccoli in Munich, guests can watch the chefs at work. On Tuesdays, the team fires up the smoker – the so-called Smoker Days.
Here, Bavarian joie de vivre meets flavors of the Alpine region in a large, open restaurant kitchen with a coconut charcoal grill: The modern meat restaurant Lonely Broccoli specializes in grilled meat, burgers and also creative desserts.
In the heart of Schwabing, you can watch the chefs prepare the dishes. That alone makes a visit worthwhile. The restaurant in the Andaz Hotel isn't just about meat; vegetarians will also find something to their liking, although meat is clearly the main focus. The restaurant convincingly demonstrates that vegetables don't need to shy away from the heat: The vegetarian Greenforce Burger (€27) is just as impressive as the "Skewered" dish with aubergine, zucchini, bell peppers, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, and celery (€31).

Chef Daniel Filacchione curates a menu each season from the abundance of seasonal ingredients. Regardless, the Modern Meat House remains true to its focus on roasted and smoky flavors in all their facets throughout the autumn. Popular favorites like Bone Gold, Signature Tartare, and Pepper Rib-Eye continue to be featured on the menu.
Chef Daniel Filacchione explains his style with the words: "I cook because it grounds me, because it is creative." The best way to start the evening with him is with an appetizer platter for two (29 euros per person), which immediately immerses you in the big wide world.
The Smoker Days will also return in autumn: The successful series makes Tuesday the hottest day of the week again, when the kitchen team fires up the smoker.
