EAT BEER gewinnt Ex-GEA-Manager Lucas Camargo als Head of Strategic Business Development & Growth
EAT BEER Biotech GmbH, based in Stralsund, is expanding its team: Lucas Camargo is taking on the newly created position of Head of Strategic Business Development & Growth.
Camargo previously spent ten years in operational management at GEA and brings additional experience from the food technology sector, including at Alfa Laval and the brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev. The 39-year-old Brazilian studied food technology, bioprocess engineering, engineering, and economics in São Paulo.
Platform strategy in focus
One of its central goals is the integration of various utilization and application options for spent grain through fungal fermentation and other biotechnological processes into the EAT BEER platform system. This aims to unlock scalable processes and new value creation potential for breweries. Camargo is responsible for identifying new applications for by-products, developing market strategies, and establishing partnerships, working closely with Managing Director Jan Malte Nordmann and CTO Dr. Mark Schneeberger.

International network as a growth factor
With Camargo's arrival, the company's international network also expands. The new Head of Strategic Business Development & Growth brings contacts from Latin America, the Nordics, and Switzerland – regions where intensive work is being done on biotechnological processes and industrial processes.
“EAT BEER as a platform ultimately functions as a network system in which various partners contribute their expertise and we create synergies,” says Camargo. He cites food waste as his personal motivation: “Upcycling is a personal issue for me. I grew up in an environment where avoiding food waste is part of everyday life. At the same time, working in the brewing industry, I came to know spent grain as a greatly underestimated resource. This discrepancy has strongly influenced me and drives me to make beer production significantly more sustainable,” says Lucas.
