Karsten Walter becomes a series chef on “Alles was zählt”

Barely has "Alles was zählt" celebrated its 20th anniversary, and already there's another new addition.

Things are going well for Karsten Walter on several fronts. Just last week he released his first single, "Mr. Right," on his new label, Artcom Music Group, and now there's more news: Starting October 2nd, the Bonn-based singer will be appearing in the RTL daily soap opera "Alles was zählt" (All That Matters). He'll be playing the role of Robin Fassbender, a newly qualified chef starting his job at the Punto restaurant.

For Karsten Walter, however, this means some extra help. He spent a large part of his life on tour and consequently often lived off catering, Walter explains in an interview with RTL. As a result, he had little time for his own cooking. That's about to change: "I want to learn to cook properly!"

The first lesson came right on the AWZ set. For a scene, the 33-year-old was supposed to chop leeks and quickly realized that professional chopping is quite different from what he's used to in his own kitchen. A chef showed him the proper techniques and helped ensure that Robin looked as believable as possible at the stove. "Maybe I'll become a hobby cook after all!" Walter told RTL.

Acting isn't quite as new to Karsten Walter as cooking. The former Feuerherz singer made his debut in 2022 in the GZSZ spin-off "Leon – Don't Believe Everything You See," before spending two and a half years in front of the camera as Noah Kaiser in the cult series "Köln 50667" on RTLzwei.
