In Rome, above the rooftops of Via Giulia, there is a new terrace inspired by the Italian summers of the 1950s
Terrazza Giulietta in Rome is the summer pop-up on the top floor of the DOM Hotel: a rooftop inspired by 1950s Italian summers, featuring cuisine, cocktails, and a retro atmosphere.
Starting July 2nd, a summer-long project has arrived on the rooftop of the DOM Hotel on Via Giulia. It's called Terrazza Giulietta, a new pop-up designed by Aldo Nascimbeni and Riccardo Sargeni (who also created L'Oratorio Trastevere, which opened in the Ripa Grande space this year, as we told you about here). This three-month project, lasting until September, will transform the hotel terrace into an open-air restaurant inspired by Italian holidays from the 1950s and early 1960s, featuring a retro aesthetic, classic cocktails, and simple cuisine.

The spatial intervention follows this line. The DOM Hotel's roof garden thus becomes a summer terrace with a relaxed atmosphere, with references to mid-twentieth-century seaside resorts: Italian music from the 1950s and 1960s, staff in marinières, vintage graphics, and a visual construction that evokes Italian seaside nostalgia.

The cuisine, clearly, plays its part. Because Terrazza Giulietta, they tell us, was born first and foremost as a restaurant open every evening from 6.30pm, seating around sixty people. On the menu we find a series of familiar dishes, between Roman tradition, Mediterranean references and great Italian classics, here lightened up for summer. There are beef tartare and carasau bread (20 euros) and tuna tartare (20) and red prawn, peaches and lime (22), Roman focaccia with raw ham, figs and burrata (14).
For the first courses, tonnarello cacio e pepe with red prawns and lime and mezze maniche alla Nerano with provolone (16) arrive at the table. Among the second courses, there are classics such as roast beef with rocket, cherry tomatoes and balsamic (21) and fried squid and courgettes (20). The same goes for the desserts (9): tiramisu and homemade panna cotta.

Even when it comes to mixology, Terrazza Giulietta focuses on Italian and international cocktail classics. The drinks list alternates timeless classics with some house signatures like the Vintage Negroni, Italian Fizz, and Italian White Lady, while still maintaining a fairly straightforward lineup.
