Sticky Five-Scented Chicken from the Roaster

One-pan chicken, seasoned with honey, hoisin sauce, and Chinese five-spice, is a cheap and easy weeknight family meal.

Ingredients · Servings For 4 people
  • 8 pieces of chicken thighs
  • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 PL with
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 3 cm ginger (fresh)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 50 g cashews
  • 1 bunch spring onions
Method · 1 h
  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Arrange chicken thighs in a large baking dish and score skin 2-3 times on each thigh. Mix together hoisin sauce sesame oil honey five spice ginger garlic and season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour over chicken and toss to coat (you can marinate for 2 hours or overnight if you have time). Bake for 35 minutes, skin side up, basting with water at least once.
  2. Stir in the cashews and sprinkle the spring onions over the chicken. Return to the oven for 5 minutes then serve with brown rice. Photo and recipe taken from BBC Good Food.
