Amirka Del Monte Rodriguez wins the 2025-26 Capo Cocktail Competition by Caffo 1915
Nine semifinalists from three cities (Caserta, Rome, Milan) took part in the final of the second edition of the Capo Cocktail Competition by Akademia Caffo, which saw the Italian-Cuban bartender Amirka Del Monte Rodriguez prevail with the cocktail Diciassette.
In addition to the plaque, Amirka received a maxi ticket for a prize flight to the international fair BCB - Bar Convent Berlin on 12-14 October 2026.
The nine semifinalists took place at the headquarters of the F.lli Caffo Distillery in the Akademia Caffo spaces in Limbadi (Vibo Valentia), which organized the competition, desired by the dynamic owner Sebastiano Nuccio Caffo and his father Giuseppe Pippo Caffo.
"Welcoming the finalists to our distillery has a profound meaning," declared Nuccio Caffo, CEO of Gruppo Caffo 1915, "because it is in these places, in the heart of Calabria, that Vecchio Amaro del Capo, our flagship product, was born and raised. Bringing some of the best talents in Italian mixology here means we've succeeded in combining tradition and innovation, without losing our identity."
The nine competitors had access to Gruppo Caffo 1915's wide range of alcoholic beverages to present their recipes, starting with Vecchio Amaro del Capo in its three variants—Classic, Red Hot Edition, and Riserva del Centenario—and continuing with a series of products made primarily from local citrus fruits: Bergamino, Limoncino dell'Isola, Liquorice LiquorIce, Clementino, BergaMia, Limunì, and Indianello ai Fichi d'India.
A series of corporate acquisitions have enriched the product portfolio with famous brands such as Borsci S. Marzano 1840, Petrus Boonekamp 1777, Santa Maria al Monte 1858 and Bisleri 1881, Grappe Mangilli 1886.
The latest additions to the Cinzano 1757 range are Vermouth di Torino IGP, Prosecco DOC, Asti DOCG, Principe di Piemonte Alta Langa DOCG, and Cinzano Bitter Soda. The historic Turin company was recently acquired by Campari Group, and will be produced in the new facility currently under construction in Diano d'Alba (Cuneo).
Directed by Gruppo Caffo 1915 Spirits & Amaro Ambassador Fabrizio Tacchi with the assistance of Brand Consulting Luca Rossi, the final took place in two stages.
The first will feature the presentation by the nine semifinalists of the original recipes selected in the three stages.
The second with the improvised preparation with the products present in a special Mystery Box, performed by the three finalists Amirka Del Monte Rodriguez (Terrarossa cocktail), Giuseppe Sanseverini (Ti prendo e Ti porto in Calabria cocktail) and Roberto Melese (Palomba cocktail).
