Melgaço celebrates World Tourism Day with free museums and wine tourism experiences

The Municipality of Melgaço is celebrating World Tourism Day, on September 26th and 27th, with a program that includes free entry to the spaces of the Melgaço Museums Network, wellness experiences, and wine tourism activities.

Under the World Tourism Organization's theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism," the program seeks to combine technology, heritage, and human interaction.

In the four spaces of the Melgaço Museums Network — Torre de Menagem, Melgaço Cinema Museum – Jean-Loup Passek, Memory and Border Space and Castro Laboreiro Museum Centre — visitors will be able to participate in “The Impostor in the Museum”, a challenge that consists of identifying an image created by Artificial Intelligence and hidden in the exhibitions.

The program also includes seven wellness and wine tourism experiences, promoted by companies participating in the Alvarinho Route. Among the offerings are wine tastings, visits to farms and wineries, sensory experiences, activities related to Artificial Intelligence, and a workshop on felting and natural dyeing.

The Melgaço Thermal Baths are also participating in the initiative, offering a 10% discount on services during the two days.

“Tourism is unequivocally establishing itself as one of the strategic pillars for the economic development and territorial cohesion of our municipality. Celebrating World Tourism Day is, above all, celebrating the territory, celebrating the tourists who choose us, and celebrating the people of Melgaço who welcome them with our characteristic hospitality. It is thanks to this dynamic that we continue to value our unique wealth, sharing with the world our heritage, our history, our culture, our identity, our nature, our gastronomy, and our Alvarinho wine,” emphasized the mayor, José Albano Domingues.
