The 5th Doña Mencía Ecotourism Fair will take place at the Crismona Municipal Wineries with an expanded program

The change of location also represents a commitment to giving new uses to the old facilities of the Crismona Wineries, recently renovated, with the intention of turning them into a municipal space also intended for future activities and events.

The fair will feature an exhibition area showcasing businesses, organizations, and artisans, as well as various spaces for workshops, presentations, tastings, and performances. The program will also extend to the area surrounding the wineries and different locations throughout the municipality, with activities related to the environment, heritage, and active tourism.

One of the key focuses of this year's event will be showcasing the flora and fauna of the Subbética region, with photographic and artistic exhibitions dedicated to local species. This will be complemented by environmental education activities aimed at both the general public and students from educational institutions.

Nature will also play a prominent role through hiking trails, including a route along the new Silver Trail, as well as through an inclusive hiking option. Activities linked to the Green Way are also planned, such as a bike ride with schoolchildren and a tree planting.

The environmental program will be complemented by activities focused on local fauna, the presentation of publications related to the plant species of the environment and proposals aimed at promoting knowledge and conservation of natural heritage.

Agriculture, oil and gastronomy

Agriculture will also play a prominent role at the fair. On October 17th, a conference dedicated to sustainable agriculture will be held, featuring content of interest to the olive sector and addressing issues related to the sustainable use of land, olive oil tourism, carbon credits, and extensive livestock farming in the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park.

Olive oil will also be featured through the promotion of the Olive Oil Library, while the gastronomic aspect will include tastings, samplings, culinary demonstrations and participatory activities.

The proposals include a pairing of traditional products, a charity tasting of mojetes from Doña Mencía, pastry activities, showcooking, a proposal aimed at children and different tastings of local products.

Workshops, heritage and activities for all audiences

The fair will maintain one of its defining characteristics: a program designed for audiences of all ages. The workshops will cover disciplines such as ethnobotany, pottery, basketry, and ornithology, among others.

There will also be space for local traditions, with activities linked to the Streets of Flowers, tours of the municipality and proposals that will allow you to approach the heritage and culture of Mencía from different perspectives.

The program will also include sports and leisure activities, such as a new simultaneous chess exhibition, Ecobingo, actions related to the protection and adoption of animals and the recording of the Mencitopía Express Shorts.

Music will once again be a central part of the fair, with various performances and sessions, as well as urban tours enlivened by musical groups. Among the announced acts are Elfos del Rocío, Maikel y los Enganches, Coro Rociero Despertar Menciano, and Cadencia Andaluza, along with DJ sets.

In this fifth edition, Luque will be the guest municipality, thus joining a fair that aims to strengthen the links between tourism, nature, heritage and local development within the region.

The program will take place throughout the weekend with events spread across the Crismona Winery and other locations in the municipality, offering activities for different audiences and reinforcing the participatory nature of a fair that once again unites nature, culture, gastronomy and leisure.
