Chef Mike Solomonov Does a Takeout Takeover at Philly Cheesesteak Institution Pat’s Next Month
Star chef Mike Solomonov will man the menu at one of Philly’s most beloved cheesesteak destinations next month as part of a newly announced takeout promotion by Resy in partnership with the American Express Gold Card.

Over two weekends in October, eight top chefs based in eight U.S. cities will create to-go riffs on iconic dishes at their local restaurant of choice.
In Philadelphia, the James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur (Zahav) will make a pop-up cooking appearance at South Philly’s 24/7 cheesesteak staple Pat’s from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 18. The meal deal ($25) will be available for pickup at a chosen time slot over the weekend (1237 E. Passyunk Avenue).
Takeout tickets via Resy go on sale to the public Thursday, September 24, at 10 a.m. (and two days earlier for American Express cardholders). Surprise $100 checks to one of the Israeli chef’s restaurants will be tucked into some takeout bags.
The new takeout series, called The Classics Remix, aims to highlight famed food destinations while paying homage to each city’s culinary roots. Other matchups include Tom Colicchio at NYC’s 2nd Ave Deli; Kwame Onwuachi at Ben’s Chili Bowl; and Deborah VanTrece (Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours) at Paschal’s in Atlanta.
Thanks to countless trips to Pat’s for a cheesesteak fix, Solomonov has become friends with its third-generation owner Frankie Olivieri. Founded in 1930, the self-proclaimed inventor of Philly’s favorite sandwich has donated cheesesteaks to hospital workers all over the region during the pandemic.
