Breakfast in Milan: Three New Places to Try in 2025

Breakfast in Milan: Three New Places to Try in 2025

There's no shortage of good places for breakfast in Milan. We've compiled a comprehensive review here, which is still valid. But new openings are increasing over time, so we're giving you a few tips for discovering new spots.

Atelier Prato – Magenta

It truly feels like an atelier, a high-fashion clothing workshop. It's a large, elegant space, meticulously designed down to the last detail, with three windows overlooking the street, and light colors, ecru, and dark brown. It was created by two young entrepreneurs, two Argentinian sisters, who relied on professionals to create a place that lived up to expectations. Technicians from Horeca Consulting worked on it for six months, while the food was designed with the help of Rubina Rovini. The result is striking; even the elegance makes for a somewhat cold image. People come here for the specialty coffee and an excellent brunch (starting at 10:00). Prices are in keeping with the atelier style: cappuccino 3.50 euros, croissant 2.20 euros. For brunch, you can enjoy a granola & yogurt bowl (9 euros), porridge with caramelized banana (11), French toast (13), soft macha pancakes (14), scrambled eggs and avocado (16), and much more. In a corner at the entrance, a small selection of flowers could not be missed, very trendy in bars at the moment.

Via San Nicolao 4, Milan

From 8am – Porta Garibaldi

The idea strikes us as both fascinating and challenging: having breakfast like in China. Providing substance and a guarantee of quality is Lampo Wu, a well-known and highly regarded Chinese entrepreneur in the city, who knows well those who have visited his excellent Gusto della Nebbia. So why not start the day with a freshly squeezed soy juice? Perhaps dipping fried dough (like churros) in it, and washing it all down with matcha or jasmine tea. If you're looking for dessert, there's tofu pudding with osmanthus, a precious flower cultivated in China for over 2,500 years, known for its intoxicating aroma reminiscent of apricots and peaches.

Viale Pasubio 6, Milan

Marrò House – San Gottardo

Marrò is short for Maria Antonietta Perrotta, who studied at Coquis in Rome and worked in various pastry shops in Palermo. A few years ago, she moved to Milan and opened a small, informal restaurant, featuring striking red resin floors and blue tiles. It's a micro-bakery with a cafeteria. Guests dine at tables with high stools in a cheerful, colorful atmosphere. Specialties include croissants with custard (2.50), chocolate mousse puff pastry, double-baked cake with almond frangipane, savory brioche, onions, and fontina cheese. For lunch, there are some truly delicious options, like a slimy omelette with wild garlic cream and chicory (10 euros) or beef and pork meatballs with a homemade kimchi velouté sauce and roasted borettane (15 euros).
