Puffed spelt bars

Puffed spelt bars are an easy and wholesome way to make homemade snacks, perfect for breakfast, a snack, or as a hunger buster any time of day.

Ingredients · Servings 4 people
  • 120 g puffed spelt
  • 110 g honey
  • maple syrup
  • sugar-free strawberry jam
Method · 30 min
  1. For the puffed spelt bars recipe, melt the honey in a double boiler or in the microwave until it has a liquid consistency; then mix it with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
  2. Pour the mixture onto the puffed spelt and knead until everything is combined.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the mixture out; cover with another sheet of parchment paper and roll it out with a rolling pin to 1-2 cm thick.
  4. Remove the paper and bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes, then let it cool.
  5. Finally, cut it into bars of the desired size and serve them with strawberry jam.

How to make puffed spelt bars

To make the puffed farro bars, combine the puffed farro with honey and maple syrup. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet between two sheets of parchment paper using a rolling pin. Remove the parchment paper and bake. Once cooled, cut the mixture into bars of your desired size.

Spelt bars for children's snacks

Wrap the spelt bars in parchment paper and store them in an airtight container with a slice of fresh fruit, ready to eat. For children, this will be a well-balanced snack with sugars, fiber, and vitamins to enjoy at school. For a more substantial treat? Add some plain yogurt.
