Sweet for you, good for the environment

Sweet for you, good for the environment

"We have been cultivating biodiversity since 1979." This phrase captures all the pride and awareness of the remarkable work carried out daily by the members of Conapi, Europe's largest beekeeping cooperative, with over 600 beekeepers and 110,000 hives, the only honey supply chain in Italy.

Honey is plural

"With Mielizia, we offer a complete range of Italian honeys and beehive products and supply chains," Conapi emphasizes. Honey, in fact, is a great gift of nature, expressed in the plural, because there are as many varieties as there are flowers and plants that grow in different Italian regions, and each has its own particular color, aroma, and unique flavor.

Our honeys are not pasteurized, but processed at low temperatures, reaching a maximum of 40°C (the same temperature found in the hive), to preserve their flavor, aroma, and nutritional values.

There's a wide variety to choose from, depending on your preferences and how you use it: for example, lime honey has aromas of mint, sage, and herbs and a moderately sweet flavor, with a slightly bitter and fresh finish. It pairs well with fish, aged cheeses, cooked fruit, and sage-based dishes. Forest honey, the only honey derived not from flowers but from honeydew, has an intense aroma, a mildly sweet flavor, and a slightly bitter taste, perfect with dairy products, black tea, vegetables, and spicy recipes. Chestnut honey is bitter and slightly tannic, with aromas of cocoa, carob, and tobacco; it pairs well with meat, game, and cheeses, both fresh and aged. Clementine honey is pleasantly tart, perfect for sweetening yogurt, whipped cream, and baked desserts, but also in frittatas, spring salads, fish, and stretched-curd cheeses. Multiflower honey varies depending on the harvesting area and is perfect spread on bread, in hot drinks, with fresh cheeses, and dried fruit. Sulla honey has a very delicate flavor, ideal for sweetening teas and infusions and for making certain desserts, such as nougat, while acacia honey is refined, with aromas of flowers, almonds, and vanilla: try it in syrup or candying fruit and in leavened dough.

Alongside honey, there are other hive products to discover and enhance in the kitchen, such as pollen, a natural supplement with a high plant-based protein content, much loved by athletes and vegetarians, and royal jelly, nourishment for the queen bee and a veritable treasure trove of beneficial nutrients for our bodies, such as vitamin B5. Also worth trying is Miele+, a blend of pollen, fresh royal jelly, and organic honey, for a boost of energy. The product range also includes organic biscuits, organic fruit compotes, organic snacks, and organic supplements, made with a few select ingredients and hive products.
