The story of a cork that loves the sea

Marine plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, with data indicating approximately ten million tons of plastic ending up in the oceans each year. Reversing this trend requires conscious choices that serve as an example to all.

An innovative project

The project, born from the collaboration between Cantina Puiatti and Vinventions, marks a new milestone in the Friulian winery's journey towards maximum environmental protection, making it the first company in the world to use this closure. "To achieve tangible results, all stakeholders in the value chain must be involved in the process; this is why we chose Nomacorc Pops Ocean to provide concrete support for change and the fight against marine pollution. The use of Nomacorc Pops Ocean helps fuel demand for these raw materials and the recycling of this waste, preventing damage to the ocean and its ecosystem," said Alberto Lusini, CEO of Angelini Wines & Estates, of which Cantina Puiatti has been a part since 2010. "This is a wonderful project that helps promote the replacement of virgin materials with recycled equivalents. Angelini Wines & Estates has always promoted excellence and quality, combining tradition and innovation, but today we recognize that true excellence is inseparable from sustainability" concluded Lusini.

"The fight against marine pollution requires a collective commitment to sustainable solutions, and we are honored that Cantina Puiatti is joining us by adopting the Nomacorc Pops Ocean closure. With this choice, wineries and their consumers become agents of change, promoting a circular philosophy that replaces virgin materials with recycled ones. We are thrilled that this project for our new Pops sparkling wine closure is coming to life in Italy, once again underscoring the strong focus on innovation and environmental sustainability among Italian producers," said Antonino La Placa, Sales Director for Italy and Southeast Europe at Vinventions.

The new Nomacorc Pops Ocean closure guarantees the same performance and reliability as other closures in the Nomacorc range, as the raw material, obtained through an advanced recycling process, has exactly the same properties as a virgin material. What's more, it's good for the planet. This summer's toasts can be as sustainable as they are delicious. Any tips for enjoying Cantina Puiatti's Ribolla Gialla Metodo Classico? It's a sparkling wine that ages on the lees for 20-24 months and is crisp and fragrant in the glass. Its aromas of broom, aromatic herbs, and fruit such as pear and Golden Delicious apple make it perfect for aperitif finger foods, but also pair well with vegetarian dishes and delicate recipes featuring white fish and shellfish. Serve at 10°C (50°F) and... tell your friends the story of this sea-loving closure.
