TheFork, Europe's leading online restaurant reservation platform and a leader in restaurant management software with TheFork Manager, with 55,000 partner restaurants in 11 countries, including 20,000 in Italy alone, has enhanced its app with two new features that will revolutionize the way people search for and book restaurants: a social feed, showcasing the favorites of friends, creators, and influencers, and an AI-powered voice assistant capable of decoding natural language requests and providing tailored suggestions. Almir Ambeskovic, CEO of TheFork, explains these new features to us.

Tailor-made advice

With these new features, in addition to being a restaurant reservation platform, TheFork also becomes a valuable tool for people to find the places they're looking for in a new way, through personal recommendations and natural conversations, just like in everyday life. "Most people choose restaurants based on friends' recommendations. Until now, this all happened outside the app, but now it's possible within TheFork," explains Ambeskovic. "People don't use search filters in real life; they say, 'I'm looking for a place with oysters and a sunset view.' For the first time, an app can understand this message and direct people to the right place." Simply speak or write as you would with a friend, using natural language queries to get immediate results, thanks to artificial intelligence that analyzes and combines reviews, menus, photos, and preferences from the internet or authoritative creators to provide tailored suggestions. But it doesn't end there, because thanks to TheFork Feed, discovering new restaurants becomes even more personalized. "According to a study conducted by TheFork and thefaculty in 2024, the majority of young people (63%) choose to try a particular restaurant based on the recommendation of friends and family, thus relying on word of mouth from people close to them," explains Ambeskovic. With the new feed, users can follow friends, food enthusiasts, and influential creators to discover restaurants through their network, highlight their connections' reviews directly on restaurant pages, explore a dynamic feed with recent experiences, lists, and favorite places shared by people they know, and receive recommendations based on social interactions, without having to search on other platforms. It's just like having the advice of a gourmet friend always at your fingertips!
