5-ingredient falafel

5-ingredient falafel

Make falafel with just a few ingredients that you probably have at home. For a better texture, use dried chickpeas instead of canned.

Ingredients · Servings For 4–5 people
  • 125 g chickpeas
  • onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ground coriander
  • 200ml olive oil
Method · 28 min
  1. Soak the chickpeas in a large amount of water for 12–24 hours (it should be at least twice the amount of chickpeas).
  2. Drain then place in a blender with the onion, garlic and ground coriander. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Blend briefly, scraping down the sides of the blender and continuing until you have a coarse, grainy paste.
  3. Take spoonfuls, shape into balls and flatten them slightly to form a disk shape.
  4. Heat about 0.5 cm of oil in a frying pan. Fry the balls in the oil until golden brown and crispy. This will take about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove and let rest on paper towels. Serve with vegetables and yogurt dip in pita bread or tortilla. Source: BBC Good Food
