Sunday French Toast

A fantastic breakfast like from a five-star hotel. It's ready in a few minutes, so you can enjoy it for longer... All the more reason to get up and enjoy a sweet breakfast.

Ingredients · Servings For 2–4 people
  • 125 ml cooking cream
  • 2 PL bourbon
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 slices of white bread
Method · 26 min
  1. In a large bowl (large enough to fit a slice of bread), whisk together the cream, eggs, bourbon, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract.
  2. Melt a knob of butter in a pan. Dip a slice of pastry into the egg and cream mixture and let it soak. Remove, let it drain slightly and place it in the pan.
  3. Toast for about 2 minutes on each side until nicely golden brown. Repeat with the remaining bread.
  4. Serve the finished toasts hot, preferably with fresh fruit, drizzled with maple syrup and dusted with powdered sugar.
