Will iced coffees break the hegemony of hot drinks? That's the question we try to answer in this edition's cover story, which spoke with roasters and large companies from five countries to understand how consumption habits are changing — and how these new drinks can, in fact, reshape the global coffee market.

The transformation of consumption is also advancing in India, the world's most populous country, where a young, urban, and well-traveled middle class has come to see coffee as a lifestyle marker. The text shows how international coffee chains, roasters, and local brands are exploring this new opportunity.

In our coverage of the 13th International Coffee Week, one of the world's most important events in the sector, which took place in November in Belo Horizonte, we highlighted how sustainability, innovation, and new regulatory frameworks are shaping Brazilian production in an increasingly complex global market.

We also investigated how high prices and greater diversity of origins are redefining Brazilian blends, both in large companies and independent roasters. This edition also features an exclusive conversation with Adriana Mejía Cuartas, the first woman to chair the board of the Global Coffee Platform. For her, sustainability is only achieved when it becomes part of the lives of the more than 12.5 million coffee farmers on the planet.

In his column "Coffee with History," Bruno Bortoloto revisits the concept of the three waves, proposing an interpretation anchored in the cultural, economic, and social reality of Brazil, the world's largest coffee producer since the 1860s.

Furthermore, we tasted six coffees from Espírito Santo — a state that combines different territories, innovation, and excellence in the production of Arabica and Canephora beans — and showed how Brazilian cocoa is being used as a raw material for products and inputs that go beyond chocolate.

Hugs and best wishes for a 2026 full of good and fair coffee.
