Great independent spirits on display at Milano Whisky Day
After a six-year absence, Milano Whisky Day, the event dedicated to spreading the culture of this noble spirit, returns. The event for out-of-home professionals, enthusiasts, and collectors will take place on Saturday, April 18th at the Hotel Marriott in Milan, the event's historic venue, in a recently renovated 1,000-square-meter space.
Born as a moment of encounter, discovery, and exploration into the world of single malt Scotch whisky, Milano Whisky Day stands out for its precise format: each edition revolves around a theme and is entirely focused on tasting the specialties on display. This new edition is dedicated to independent bottlers and selectors, the beating heart of Scotch whisky, and to rarities: labels discontinued or from distilleries closed for decades, and bottles that are difficult or impossible to find. A true celebration of unconventional selections, which tell often-forgotten stories, of memory and time.
Over 1000 specialties to taste
Over 1,000 labels are offered for tasting, including gems from historic independent bottlers like Gordon & MacPhail, William Cadenhead, and Douglas Laing, as well as Italian ones like Wilson & Morgan of Treviso and Angel's Share, as well as rarities from distilleries that have been closed for decades, such as Port Ellen, Brora, and Rosebank.
"We're very happy with this return," says Andrea Giannone, along with Giuseppe Gervasio Dolci, creator and organizer of the event and the Milano Whisky Festival. "The idea is to allow people to try bottles that many enthusiasts only know by name. We're talking about whiskies that are often out of reach, priced beyond their reach, true rarities. Here, thanks to the tasting formula, they're made accessible, offering spirits enthusiasts the chance to experience a liquid treasure that will never return."
Wandering among the various stands, letting your intuition and senses guide you, or searching for a particular label and tasting it, is the spirit of the event. Furthermore, you can purchase collectible bottles from the exhibitors and extend the tasting experience at home with 2cl bottles, available for purchase on-site.
How to participate in the Milan Whisky Day
Milano Whisky Day will be held on April 18th, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Marriott Hotel, Via Washington, 66, Milan. Tickets cost €10 and can also be purchased on the event website. Tickets include access to the event, a tasting glass, and a glass holder.
