Serena Wines 1881, bubbles by nature
The fifth generation of the Serena family is leading the company, which by 2025 boasts a production of 31 million bottles and a customer base that accounts for 56% of its value from abroad.
Another resource that has made Serena Wines 1881 famous worldwide is its keg wine, launched on the HoReCa market in 1987. Its success has never wavered due to the system's convenience: it allows for by-the-glass service while preserving the integrity of the wine's organoleptic characteristics, both still and sparkling. In this sector, with the L'UVAS brand, Serena Wines 1881 is a national and international market leader. The company's international development was boosted by the arrival of Luca Serena at the helm in 2004. Accustomed to traveling the world as a professional tennis player, he has driven exponential growth in the company's international positioning, leading it to export to sixty countries, making it a well-established global player.
The company
The company's headquarters are in Conegliano, in a state-of-the-art facility boasting around a hundred autoclaves for sparkling wine production, a wine kegging system, and a bottling line. The company also owns an estate in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG area, with its own vineyards in Arfanta di Tarzo. The supply chain is complete, from vineyard to bottle, and the estate, Ville d'Arfanta, which is also the name on the label of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG produced, is nestled in a dreamlike landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. Taking advantage of the location's charm, the company offers comprehensive experiential hospitality, from vineyard picnics to tastings, bike tours, and even accommodations in the charming property.
Another key component of the multifaceted company is Champagne De Vilmont, acquired by Serenza Wines in 2007 at the behest of Luca's uncle, Gerardo Serena. This significant investment came during a period of significant growth for the company, driven largely by passion rather than pure business ambition.
With this in mind, the family's creativity has led to the latest idea: Audace is a classic method sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir grapes produced in Lessinia, a volcanic area between the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. Audace has always been suited to viticulture, characterized by favorable soil and climate conditions, especially considering the constantly rising temperatures. Audace is the result of twelve months of maturation on the lees, and is therefore characterized by a precise positioning: a sparkling wine that preserves the fruity and floral qualities, enhancing them with the strong minerality of the wines from that area, without focusing on the toasted tertiary notes typical of long-aged classic method sparkling wines, which are more present in the sparkling wines that Serena Wines 1881 produces in Champagne.
In short, the seed of sparkling wine has spawned a company that, over the course of forty years, has built a business capable of anticipating market trends rather than chasing them, offering a particularly broad range of products, all sharing the most contemporary consumption style, based on cornerstones independent of fashion, sociability, and the desire for lightness.
