Rather than writing up individual reviews for these beers, we’ve come up with a page of beers for our recent trip to Urashima Brewery – which is a brewpub located in Yokohama. As these are draught beers, there is no guarantee that they will be on tap if and when you go there.
Urashima Kumo: Details
- Alcohol: 6.3%

Urashima Kumo: Mini Review
Appearance: Light golden body with little haze – though some chill haze as beer served cold. Head was medium with some bubbles of various sizes, left a few streaks down the side of the glass.
Aroma: Fruity, with light citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, along with a touch of mango in the back as warms up. Low sweetness to the aroma throughout drinking.
Body: Low to medium bitterness that lingers during drinking. Medium fruitiness with some citrus notes appearing again. Lies on the dry side, with a fleeting crisp bite to the beer, with tropical notes in the end. BEST OF THE BUNCH.
Urashima Haru: Details

Urashima Haru: Mini Review
Appearance: Light yellow straw colour with a large frothy head on top that collapsed slowly into a half of the size during drinking. Slight chill haze to the beer as served very cold.
Aroma: Saison yeast phenols from start to finish, with a funkiness becoming more prominent during drinking. Light malt sweetness as the beer warms up with a touch of citrus notes too.
Body: Crisp with an underlying yeasty phenolic funk from start to finish. A touch on the sweet side for a saison but the dry body helped the beer go down. Lingering aftertaste of phenols – peach and funky.
Urashima Ki: Details
- Alcohol: 5.8%

Name of Beer: Mini Review
Appearance: Light golden straw colour with a thin head of bubbles on top that didn’t last long – in fact they disappeared so quickly that there was no trace of a head less than a minute later.
Aroma: Musty oxidised aroma with some wet cardboard thanks to the East Kent Goldings – smelt like an English pale ale. A touch of malt sweetness in the end as the beer warms up.
Body: Bold and boozy for an English pale ale – more like an American level with this alcohol. The hops were slightly bitter with a touch of wet cardboard-like flavour to the body. Decent drinking but too strong for the style to be enjoyed.
