Popular Manchester restaurant to get major revamp with new 'sophisticated look'

It will feature an authentic 'Churrasco Experience' at the heart of the venue.

“Manchester has played an important role in Fogo de Chão’s growth in the UK, and this investment reflects our commitment to the city and our guests,”

A popular Brazilian restaurant in Spinningfields is set to reopen later this month with its biggest transformation to date.

Fazenda opened in Manchester back in 2014, but has since rebranded as Fogo de Chão, which is a chain that started life in Porto Alegre, Brazil back in 1979 and now has sites across the UK, USA, Brazil and the UAE.

Marking the first full remodel of a Fogo de Chão restaurant in the UK since owners acquired the Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill brand in 2024, the Manchester store will close for two weeks as work is undergone. Its menu includes steaks, pork sausage, chicken thighs, as well as seafood and pastas.

Having temporarily closed from today (September 7), the restaurant, on The Avenue, is set to reopen on September 21 once works are completed. It will heighten its focus on the Brazilian tradition of churrasco cooking, where large cuts of meat are cooked over hot open flames and charcoal.

Served the ‘Rodizio’ way, the high-quality cuts are seasoned and grilled in open view to create a ‘salty bark’, which emphasises its flavour and craftsmanship. In addition, there will be a Market Table selection of salads, charcuterie, vegetables and lighter dishes designed to balance and enhance.

The menu will also include a range of premium and shareable selections, alongside a carefully-curated list of South American wines and cocktails. Its Bar Fogo will also offer a more relaxed setting for drinks and lighter dining, including a daily Happy Hour of specials.

The design of the restaurant, from international firm Harrison, will see the new space take on a darker, richer and elevated approach inspired by Brazilian gaúcho heritage. It will also feature statement lighting, natural materials, and sepia-toned photography, with the open-view grill taking centre place.

“Manchester has played an important role in Fogo de Chão’s growth in the UK, and this investment reflects our commitment to the city and our guests,” said Terence Langley, Managing Director of Fogo de Chão UK & Europe.

“The transformation brings a more sophisticated look and feel to the restaurant, along with an expanded dining space, while preserving the authentic Churrasco Experience and warm hospitality at the heart of Fogo. We’re proud to welcome Manchester back to Fogo and introduce guests to what’s next.”

In addition, there will also be a new light-filled dining room, offering a brighter and more open setting alongside the main dining room. Across the main restaurant, Bar Fogo and its three private dining rooms, the redesigned venue will be able to accommodate around 200 guests.

“The transformation of our Manchester restaurant is an exciting milestone for Fogo de Chão as we continue to build our presence in the UK,” Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão, added. “Our investment in Manchester reflects our confidence in the brand and its future on an international scale.”

Fogo de Chão Manchester, which will reopen September 21, is on The Avenue Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3AP.
