Murger Han: Popular Xi'an Restaurant From London Opens In The CBD

It’s not every day we see a restaurant specialising in Xi’an cuisine in Singapore, so I was thrilled when Murger Han, a famous Chinese restaurant known for their flatbread and biang biang noodles, opened their first outlet in Asia on our shores. The new restaurant, which hails from London, is conveniently located in Tanjong Pagar.

Better yet, their mains are all under $15. For the uninitiated, murgers are Xi’an-style flatbread sandwiches packed with delicious, savoury fillings.

You can choose between a classic flatbread and a crusty bread, alongside the filling you prefer: pork, lean pork, and spicy cumin chicken. Prices are wallet-friendly, too, with the Pork Murger priced at $5.80. This hearty snack features thick, juicy pork chunks and sliced cucumbers in a warm, crispy flatbread.

For a punchier flavour, get the Spicy Chicken Murger with Peppers and Cumin ($6.50) instead. You get a winning combination of flaky bread loaded with aromatic, spiced chicken.

It’d be remiss of you to leave the restaurant without having tried their hand-pulled biang biang noodles. What’s interesting here is that you can choose your preferred filling from four proteins: braised pork, slow-cooked lamb, slow-cooked beef, and beef brisket.

If you’re getting the 3-in-1 Noodles ($10.80), starring tomato egg sauce, spring onion, and a chilli oil base, you can choose one protein out of the lot! Alternatively, the 5-in-1 Noodles ($12.80) gives you two protein choices.

The latter also gets you an extra base of stir-fried mixed vegetables. Here’s a great meal deal for those working in the area: their Set A ($10.80) comprises a murger, a bowl of cold noodles, and a soft drink of your choice.

For something a little more filling, we recommend Set D ($12.80), which gives you 3-in-1 Noodles, a salad, and a soft drink. FYI, the restaurant is a quick four-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. They are still in the soft opening phase, so please extend some grace if you encounter any hiccups along the way.
