Dabao Hawker Food Plushies At This Jellycat Diner-Inspired Pop-Up

If you’ve been dreaming of experiencing the viral Jellycat Diner after watching the videos, here’s some exciting news: Mr Merlion Hawker Fest is a limited-time pop-up inspired by that very concept. Interestingly, the experience is hawker-themed, just in time to celebrate SG60!

Catch the “live cooking” in action at Bugis+ Level 2 Atrium and Changi Airport Terminal 3 (outside Kopitiam) on 2 August and 3 August. If you can’t make it this weekend, it’ll run again on 9 August and 10 August at Changi Airport.

The pop-up takes place from 12pm to 4pm and 5pm to 9pm on all days. The experience costs $60 per person and includes five keychain plushies of your choice, alongside a reusable bag. According to videos online, there’s a realistic durian setup at the pop-up, where you can redeem an uber-cute durian plushie decked out in thorns and all.

We’ve got our eye on the ice cream sandwich, a quintessential Singaporean dessert. Your selected ice cream flavour gets “chopped up” and slotted into a “slice” of rainbow bread.

Other cute plushies to collect include curry puff, bak kwa, and iced gem biscuits, which come in a trio of colours: green, white, and pink. Due to popular demand, the plushies are currently sold out and will only be delivered to each customer by the end of August.

We recommend visiting the Mr Merlion Hawker Fest pop-up earlier to avoid the crowds! It seems like the food-themed plushie trend is going strong; popular brands, including CHAGEE tea and Beutea bubble tea, have come up with their own plushie creations for fans to collect. You can also cop Play Nation’s kopitiam-inspired plushies at their pop-up at Marina Square from now till 17 August.

In other food news, 7-Eleven has launched exclusive SG60 snacks to try, including Milo lava cake and nasi lemak onigiri! We particularly enjoyed the latter for its rich and lemak rice, complemented by the fragrant sambal chicken.
