Chez Carrie, a Parisian bistro with a Mediterranean-transatlantic touch
Author Dame Solomon has created a charming Parisian bistro with a Mediterranean-transatlantic touch and a menu of creative dishes in the former Rubis space.
To avoid a long-haul flight, author Dame Solomon has created a charming Parisian bistro with a chic Mediterranean-transatlantic touch. In the former Rubis space, the establishment features bistro furniture, a curved wooden bar where her accomplice Dawnie Perry keeps watch, and frosted globes. Everything is bathed in ultraviolet light thanks to a canvas by artist Johanna Solal.
The menu includes a fluffy pumpkin fritter with pickled carrots, candied lemon aioli, and grated scamorza cheese. There's also a large meatball with mushrooms and celeriac, moistened with creamy smoked ricotta and a gremolata of mint, caper leaves, and mizuna.
Another dish combines raw scallops and crème fraîche on a corn tostada, topped with aguachile, Satsuma mandarin, and fresh herbs. The meal concludes with a dazzling, almost cloying carrot cake ice cream.
At midday they offer a deconstructed ham and butter sandwich or a neoclassical Caesar salad.
The drinks selection, focused entirely on the winemaker, is curated by Jill Cousin (Provisions). You can choose, for example, the white wine Copinages & Crustacés from winemaker Fanny Daher, at €9 a glass. There's also homemade kombucha with shiso and verbena (€7 a glass), Les Deux Amants Double IPA (€7 for 33 cl), and Paris Cola (€5.50 for 33 cl).
The set lunch menu costs €22 on weekdays, starters range from €9 to €14, main courses from €19 to €26 and desserts from €8 to €12.
