The best restaurants in Chelsea, according to the editorial team's selection
From Kutir's tandoori lamb to Tom Kerridge's burgers at The Butcher's Grill, the editorial team brings together venues from King's Road and Sloane Square.
“One of the few in the world that cannot be made by machinery.”
Chelsea is home to restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines, from British seafood to Mexican, spread across King's Road, Sloane Street and Pavilion Road.
El Mar el Mar, on Pavilion Road, is a seafood restaurant with three distinct areas: the raw bar, the terrace, and the upstairs dining room. Its menu features rock oysters, caviar, red prawns from the raw bar, and Shetland turbot, while its selection of English wines ranges from Westwell sparkling wine to Salt Éire from the South Downs.
Ixchel, on King's Road, is a Mexican restaurant with hand-painted murals and cozy corner tables perfect for intimate dates. Their spicy mango margarita features Tajín, and the sautéed shrimp tacos offer a smoky flavor atop crispy cabbage. Service is fast, perhaps too fast.
Kutir, on Lincoln Street, occupies a Georgian house with mint-green walls and chandeliers. Rohit Ghai offers an exploration of Indian cuisine; his Expedition menu, at £75 per person, features six courses plus tadka dal, breads, and rice. The tandoori lamb cutlet, marinated with smoked black cumin, is the star of the menu.
Azzurra, on Sloane Street, combines British seafood with Italian ingredients. Their lorighittas dish, a twisted pasta originating from Sardinia, is served with octopus cooked in a Calabrian chili and Datterini tomato sauce.
