Illy launches a coffee from certified regenerative agriculture in Minas Gerais
Arabica Selection Brasil Cerrado Mineiro is the first 100% Arabica coffee from certified regenerative agriculture, with notes of caramel and nuts.
The Cerrado Mineiro region, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, offers an ideal climate and rich biodiversity, allowing the grain to develop a unique and complex flavor profile.
illycaffè maintains that caring for the land and responsible agricultural practices are essential. This is reflected in Arabica Selection Brasil Cerrado Mineiro, certified by regenagri®, a program developed by experts in soil, sustainability, and agronomy that seeks to guarantee the health and future of the land through regenerative agriculture.
This commitment is reflected in restored lands and more fertile soils, thanks to the enrichment with living roots, water, and energy to reduce CO2 emissions. This has been achieved in partnership with the Federation of Producers of the Cerrado Mineiro, with whom illycaffè maintains a strong and lasting relationship.
"Together we have worked for more than thirty years to mitigate the effects of climate change through regenerative practices," says Cristina Scocchia, CEO of illycaffè.
The goal is not only sustainable production, but also ensuring its continuity in the future. Therefore, both parties are presenting the first 100% Arabica coffee from certified regenerative agriculture, as a step towards long-term sustainability.
The coffee has notes of caramel and nuts. It is available in 250g packages of whole bean or ground coffee, and is sold in Illy stores, specialty supermarkets, and on the brand's website.
